Hey Harpo, it's good to hear from you, you old fart. I still have your pictures but I haven't scanned many of them yet. It's a work in progress. I haven't done any memorial pages on the site. In my opinion, no one on this job has ever deserved more admiration than Danny. He made more positive changes for the rank and file, as just a company delegate, than the entire executive board. As Sergeant at Arms he was relentless in insuring our safety both in the firehouse and on the fireground. That being said, I didn't want to do a memorial on this site. If we did a memorial to Danny I think we would have to do one for Marty Celic and Tom Wylie and all the other great men that graced Fort Pitt but are no longer with us. The UFA should think about memorializing Danny on their site, noting the breakthroughs he spearheaded in reforming the Medical Office, expanding and making the HELP Team truly helpful and having the Niederman Exhaust Systems installed in all firehouses just to mention a few of his accomplishments. See you soon! Grimace

Hey grimace,if you wait for the union (excuse me-the "association") to do something for Danny-- I hope I don't have to hold my breath!!!! As for the other members who passed away on duty-no disrespect intended to them- but all of them put together couldn't add up to what Danny did in one year--never mind his whole career--The UFA named a building after him--The Fort Pitt Forum could(and should) do something also--How many times did Danny help out, just our members in one way or another--but that's only my opinion CARL-- you go ahead and put it out of your mind, that's OK-he'll understand-- yup, yup, yup ----HARPO

Harpo...Glad to see your not shy about expressing your opinion. As I said before, I don't want this site to be used as a memorial web site. Being the thick headed kraut that I am, I'm going to stick with that policy. Everything you said about Danny is true including the part about him understanding. Stay Dry! - Grimace

Hey, this Jim Amberger L-11, Danny was my grandfather and it's great to read a thread like this and see he's remembered. When I got assigned to L-11 and we went to the Battalion for something I wondered if the door code had changed since I was a boy—and it was the same code after all that time.
Cap, I talked to Tom Fiskka over the weekend to find out who ran this website. We have a battalion website up at 28and11.com (yeah I know not a good name for a Battalion 4 website). I will link to this site there and I will be adding a pictures section.

Hi Jim, Thanks for linking us to the 28/11 site. As I'm sure you've heard from many people before me, you're grandfather was an amazing man. He taught me some great lessons both in firefighting tactics and in what it really means to be a New York City Firefighter. Good luck to you! Carl
